S Topic: Project Contract Administration - Practical & Legal Perspectives
Speaker: Rishi Kumar, P.Eng., CQA, PMP
Topic Overview: There is an increasing awareness of the need to operate and control contracts more efficiently, as promoters of such projects become more knowledgeable and demoing. An understanding of the contract clauses underlying the project is a widely publicized requirement for the successful PM. Weaknesses in contract control generally stem from the absence of foolproof procedures and poor communication. This session aims to show how these deficiencies can be overcome and focuses on developing skills for making a balanced and fair interpretation.
This workshop will explain how to interpret clauses and analyze in the contracts and get the project completed on time and within budget. You will develop the ability and confidence to take control over contract administration in your organization an have a real impact on your bottom line. You will learn how to create win-win situations and develop workable plans and translate them into expedient action. You will enhance your knowledge of the contract management techniques including contract legality, constructability and the settlements of claims. You will learn strategies to avoid the failures and contracting pitfalls. You will learn to evaluate disputed issues within the constraints of the contracting document language.
Speaker Bio: Rishi Kumar is a VP – Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, at Global Technologies and Manufacturing. Since 1976, he as held many senior positions in utility, auto industry, research and development, service and consulting sectors in program and portfolio management of various capital projects. He has authored and co-authored technical papers on a variety of topics and has presented at numerous national and international conferences.
